The Irrigation Department has issued an amber alert, cautioning of a potential flood situation along both sides of Attanagalu Oya within the next 3 to 24 hours. The alert attributes the heightened risk to heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm in the high-water current areas of the Attanagalu Oya basin.
The announcement highlights the possibility of flooding in low-lying areas of Attanagalu Oya and Uruval Oya valleys, encompassing Divulapitiya, Mirigama, Attanagalle, Mahara, Gampaha, Minuwangoda, Ja Ela, Katana, and Wattala Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
Residents in the affected areas and drivers passing through the region are urged to exercise extreme caution and stay vigilant.
