A special meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs will be held under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at 3.00 pm today via Zoom technology . Ther meeting which was decided to held today was suddenly postponed by the Speaker yesterday over the security concerns. However later decided to held it via Zoom technology.
The Speaker’s Office stated that the purpose of this meeting of the party leaders is to have a wide-ranging discussion on the current anarchic situation in the country and to take immediate practical action.

However, the Speaker has already decided not to convene Parliament until the security of the Members of Parliament is ensured.
