A two-and-a-half-year-old boy who escaped from the IDH Hospital in Colombo with his mother has been found in a house in the Yaya Road area in Eheliyagoda, police said.
The child and his mother had escaped from the hospital around 9.10 last night. The woman has been identified as 25 year old Jayasinghe Mudiyanselage Ruwani Nisansala Karunarathna.
It has been revealed that the mother who escaped from the hospital with her child had gone to a house by bus. It is reported that the mother had handed over her son to the relative’s house in Eheliyagoda last night and fled the scene. The son has been taken into police custody and handed over to the IDH Hospital through the PHI office police said.
The security forces have launched an operation to find the woman. It is reported the woman is involved in large scale heroin smuggling.
