A 24-year-old woman who had been trained by Easter Sunday attacker and terror leader Zahran Hashim of the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) has been arrested by the Police. According to Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana, the woman was arrested from Hingula, Mawanella.

“In December six females were arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) of the Police,” he said adding that the latest arrest comes after further investigations into the women.

“We uncovered that Zahran had recruited and trained a number of women and the arrests were made following investigations by the TID” he added.

According to the Spokesman, the woman’s brothers and father are also currently being detained after they were arrested earlier under suspicion for having links to the attacks on Buddha statues in Mawanella and the Easter Sunday attack.
