In a tragic incident a father, residing in the Muravasihena area of Agunukolapalassa, has poisoned his son using insecticide, who had been suffering from a mental disorder, before taking his own life yesterday (14) evening.

The father, aged 50, and his son, aged 25, tragically succumbed to poisoning.

The son had been grappling with a mental disorder for some time, for which the father had diligently sought treatment. Yesterday (14) morning the father accompanied his son to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment, returning home in the afternoon.

In the evening, while the father and son were alone at home, the mother and daughter had left for a nearby temple. During this time, the father forcibly sprayed insecticide on his son before consuming the poison himself.
