Surrey Police have announced that the father, stepmother, and uncle of 10-year-old Sara Sharif have been charged with her murder. The tragic incident has shocked the community, as the investigation unfolds.
The accused individuals, identified as Urfan Sharif (41), his partner Beinash Batool (29), and Urfan’s brother, Faisal Malik (28), all residing on Hammond Road in Woking, face charges related to the murder of Sara. Additionally, each of them has been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.
Sara’s lifeless body was discovered in her home on August 10th. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that she had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries.”
In a disturbing twist, the three adults departed the UK for Pakistan on August 9th, just a day before Sara’s body was found. However, their attempts to leave the country did not go unnoticed. They were apprehended at Gatwick Airport upon their return from Dubai. Surrey Police officially charged them on Friday morning, and they have been remanded in custody, awaiting their appearance at Guildford Magistrates’ Court.
Along with Sara, her five siblings, ranging in age from one to 13 years old, also accompanied Mr. Sharif, Ms. Batool, and Mr. Malik on the trip to Pakistan on August 9th. Authorities located the children in Pakistan, staying at Mr. Sharif’s father’s residence on Monday. Subsequently, they have been relocated to a government childcare facility within the country.
Surrey Police have ensured that Sara’s mother, Olga Sharif, has been informed about the latest developments and is receiving support from specialized officers during this incredibly challenging time.
