Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, all part of the Meta tech platform, are experiencing a widespread technical problem, causing a global outage and affecting thousands of social media users.

The outage, which began around 3:20 pm today (05), has disrupted Facebook Messenger and social media services across the globe. Users are encountering issues with sending and receiving messages on WhatsApp as well.

According to reports from foreign media, the extent and duration of the outage remain unclear, leaving users frustrated and uncertain about when services will be restored.

Downdetector, a service that tracks outages worldwide, has recorded over 160,000 reports of Facebook being down in the UK alone, along with over 40,000 reports of Instagram accounts being affected. This outage marks one of the largest disruptions faced by Meta’s platforms in recent years.
