The Council of the European Union (EU) yesterday, 26 banned the LTTE for a further three months. The EU made this proscription under the renewed list of persons, groups and entities set out by the Common Position 2001/931/CFSP with the view to combatting terrorism.
The proscribed persons, groups and entities are subject to the freezing of it’s funds and other financial assets or economic resources in EU member states, as well as it is prohibited for EU entities to make funds and economic resources available to the proscribed organizations Sri Lanka”s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
