93 staff members of the state of emergency declared Karapitiya Teaching Hospital have been infected with Covid 19 hospital sources said. The sources said that the doctors, nurses and junior staff of the hospital were among those infected.
As the capacity of the hospital is exceeded, the hospital ward is closed only to patients who do not show severe symptoms and are sent home at their own discretion and show severe symptoms.
