The Election Commission (EC) meeting which was to be held today to decide on a date to hold the upcoming general elections has been postponed to June 8. According to sources from the EC, it is likely that the decision will be made and announced on the day (08).
The meeting was postponed after EC members decided to call for comments and suggestions of parties prior to the deciding meeting.
The EC members today met with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) to discuss the medical and health guidelines required to hold the upcoming elections. The necessary guidelines to hold the general elections were handed over to the Chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya today.
