The Ministry of Health has decided to seek the assistance of the private sector to obtain one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
State Minister for Covid Control Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle requests the private sector to provide the required quantity if there is a possibility for them. She further said that there is a need of vaccines to inoculate the second dose to the 600,000 people who have been given the first dose. And also need a stock to vaccinate adults over 60 years of age.
As the results of the efforts made so far to obtain the AstraZenica vaccine at the state level are still delayed, it is imperative that the vaccine be brought to Sri Lanka immediately and made available to the public, she said.
It is also stated that the vaccination programs carried out in the Western Province are constantly monitored by her.
