Don’t classify children based on exam results. –Dr. Rumi Ruban

It is the responsibility of the parents and teachers to evaluate the children who have obtained high results in the scholarship examination and to felicitate them while dealing with the weak children appropriately so as not to harm their mental composure.

Dr Rumi Ruban, a specialist in mental health at the Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, made these observations recently.

He said children are not classified based on scholarship results.

Dr Rumi Ruban also said that the scholarship exam was an exam that was too painful to bear during childhood.

“Though the scholarship exam is an important exam, don’t classify children based on its results.”

Don’t think of children as gifted or otherwise. Don’t break the hearts of children. Do not discourage the children by comparing the results of the child next door with the results of their relatives. We appreciate the dedication of the children who faced the exam.

No matter what results he or she gets, appreciate the results obtained, identify the shortcomings, and encourage the children to succeed in their studies in the future.” Direct the child’s mind to do things that were missed in the past due to the scholarship exam. “The development of social skills and courage is important,” added Dr Rumi Ruban.
