Leading business magnate Dhammika Perera has taken steps to enter into the confectionery business with a biscuit and chocolate factory through his Royal Ceramic Company. He has renamed Rocell Ceramic Limited, a nun functional company, as Biscuit and Chocolate Company Limited. and business operations have begun, according to business sources.
The company owns 33-acre land in Kiriwattuduwa, Homagama and steps have been taken to start a factory and a cocoa plantation on that land.
According to the business sources the intended land of Homagama where the factory will be located worth around Rs. 400 million was proposed to be taken over by the Urban Development Authority of the region last year and Royal Ceramics has been able to reclaim the land by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Authority.
