An extensive investigation has begun on the order of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena regarding death threats to two members of Parliament.
These investigations have started following the complaint made to the speaker by Dr Thilak Rajapaksa and Wasantha Yapa Bandara, members of the independent parliamentary group, that they have received death threats.
They complained that these death threats were due to the stand they had taken on the election of the President in Parliament.
These two MPs have now complained to the Mirihana Police and the President with the recorded audio tapes related to the death threats made over the telephone lines.
