The body of a has been dumped on the beach in the Musali area in Mannar on the 19th. Burn injuries have remained on the dead whale’s body and it is suspected the mammal has died due to the effect of the X-Press Pearl Ship fire incident.
After the fishermen in the Musali area informed the authorities, the Fisheries Inspectors Police and the Navy went to the area and began investigations into the body of the whale that had been dumped on the beach.
One of the two turtles that landed on the beach in the Musali area a few days ago in critical condition died shortly afterward and the other is still alive.
The cause of death of the turtles and the whale has not yet been clearly established.
Fishermen in Mannar say that these animals are dying due to the impact of the Express Pearl ship.
