Sri Lanka may get a relief from Covid in another 08 weeks – A top researcher predicts

Assessing the success of the Covid vaccination and the current pattern of the Covid virus spread leading scientist Dr.Chandima Jeewandara of Sri Jayewardenepura University Department of Allergy and Immunology predicts that by the last week of October, the people of the country will have developed immunity against this virus. He also predicts that this extremely oppressive condition will have disappeared within 08 more weeks.
He made these remarks while participating in a special TV program yesterday.
“By that time stable immune system will be developed in the society. There are two ways in which this immunity occurs. One by injection. The other is by naturally recovering from the illness. When we consider those factors we can keep hopes on such a believable situation.

At present, 60 per cent of those over 30 years of age have received both doses. Many people under the age of 30 have developed the disease naturally and have recovered. My personal guess is that by the end of September we will have significantly fewer patients. Decreases in patients are reported and it takes another two weeks for the deaths to decrease. By mid-October, there will be a significant reduction in the number of deaths and illnesses.

Also, the government’s target is to complete the vaccination 100 per cent of the population over the age of 30 by September 10. This means that two weeks after September 10, that is, on September 24 and 25, they have the right immunity.
If the new varieties do not cause trouble, in two months the country will be free from this plague and go to a better place.
