The Association of Public Health Inspectors warns that if the Covid epidemic erupts in the country again, there will be nothing we can do as at least there is no a single test kit in 365 Medial Officer of Health teritories to diagnose the disease.

PHI’s Union President Upul Rohana points out that there is no health safety program at the airport or port to carry out antigen tests of people coming to Sri Lanka from abroad.

He said that if the number of covid patients increases, there are no facilities to carry out medicines or tests in the hospitals to treat them and the attention of the health department has not been focused so far to create such facilities.

The association points out that since the current Covid vaccine will expire on the 31st of this month, it is impossible to even think about bringing the vaccine again.
