The court ordered the release of Bruno Diwakara, the owner of SL-Vlog, on bail, while remanding Natasha Edirisuriya once again until July 05. The charges against Edirisuriya involved making a statement insulting Buddhist philosophy and culture.
Rejecting Edirisuriya’s bail request, Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage delivered the order to keep her in custody. However, Bruno Divakara, who had publicized Edirisuriya’s statement on a YouTube channel, was granted release on two personal bails of 10 lakh rupees each, along with a cash bail of 50,000 rupees.
Additionally, Magistrate Gamage also ordered the remand of Reverend Rajanganaye Saddharathana Thero until the 5th of the following month. The order was issued due to Thero’s statements that were deemed to interfere with religious harmony.
