Controversial Aeroflot Aircraft leaves for Moscow

The detained Aeroflot A 330 Air carft departed this evening (06) to Moscow from Katunayaka following the suspension of an court order preventing ther Aircraft from leaving Sri Lanka.

The order was suspended by Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Harsha Setunga on Monday (6) after the  considering a motion filed by the Attorney General.

The Airbus A330-343 operated by Russian state-owned airline Aeroflot was denied permission to fly to Moscow as scheduled on June 2nd amid a legal dispute with a leasing company. The flight had more than 200 passengers onboard when it was detained.

An Irish company, Celestial Aviation Limited, was seeking to confiscate the jet after Russia failed to return its property.
