A tragic accident occurred today (12) in Urumattu area of Kodigamam, where a luxury bus traveling from Colombo to Jaffna collided with a tractor. The collision resulted in two people sustaining serious injuries, while four others suffered minor injuries.
Among the injured, four have been admitted to Chavakachcheri Hospital, while the remaining two have been transferred to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The collision inflicted severe damage, particularly to the tractor involved. Investigations suggest that the accident took place while the tractor was engaged in plowing a field, leading to a collision with the bus.
Reports indicate that the driver of the bus may have fallen asleep at the wheel, contributing to the incident. Police are currently conducting tests and inquiries to ascertain the exact cause of the collision and to prevent similar accidents in the future.
