The Government Medical Officers’ Association states that 38 Covid deaths have been reported per day during the last month. Although the number of deaths could not be calculated accurately due to the lack of accurate data provided by the Epidemiology Unit, based on their information it can be stated that there are approximately 38 Covid deaths per day, Dr. Prasad Colombage, executive committee member of GMOA said
According to the GMOA, the highest number of deaths were reported from the Kalutara district in the Western Province as the percentage of 28. 18 percent of the deaths have been reported in the Colombo district, Dr. Colombage said.
He points out that regular cases of Covid infected staying at home, medical advice, and taking them to treatment centers in critical situations have led to the death of Covid infected at home due to lack of systematic measures.
The union emphasizes that a very dangerous situation has been created in the country and if the Ministry of Health does not implement a proper program, it will not be possible to prevent this situation from escalating in the future.
The Association also points out that the Epidemiology Unit is fully responsible for this dangerous situation that is developing in the country
