An overseas call gives a clue on the Gampola missing girl!

The 22-year-old girl from Gampola, who has been missing for several days, has been strangled to death by a person, and the suspect was arrested by the police.

The police said that this 22-year-old girl, Fatima Munavur, works in a pharmacy in Gelioya and was taken by force to a nearby coconut plantation in Weligalla while she was walking by a young man who tried to befriend her, police said.


Her parents complained to the police that this young woman has been missing and while the investigations are going on The OIC of Weligalla Police station gave his official contact number to people so that if they have any clue about this girl missing provide the them as soon as possible.

Recently the OIC received a foreign call from a certain country and had given a clue about a youth in the same area. After preliminary investigations, Police interrogated the youth and he admitted that he strangled her to death when she refused to have sexual contact with the youth. The suspect is also 24 years and has been working as a shepherd.

Accordingly, it is said that this young man asked her to come to a bush near the road, and when she refused, he dragged her by force and strangled her. It has also been revealed that her body was buried after the murder and the police were able to find her pair of slippers, umbrella, and a water bottle nearby.

The suspect has revealed to the Police that when the girl strikes with the umbrella to the suspect the umbrella has broken. He has used the broken umbrella to stab her.

The police said that the body will be exhumed tomorrow and further investigations will be conducted.
