The CID is to file a report in the Magistrate Courts against Senior DIG Deshabandu Thennekoon on his criminal liability concerning the attack on the Galle Face Green on May 9.
The CID will report to the Magistrate in terms of section 216 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Senior DIG Kamal Silva has informed the CID that he obtained the approval of the Attorney General to proceed with the matter.
The IGP, on a Court directive, appointed SDIG Kamal Silva to monitor and oversee the investigations into the matter.
SDIG Silva has said that they are left only with the arrest of Johnston Fernando to complete their list of twenty suspects responsible for the Galle Face Green attack.
SDIG Silva has instructed the investigators to accomplish their duties expeditiously with proper coordination among relevant agencies.
