A number of farming families in southern area such as Moragoda, Telijjawila, Akuressa Paraduwa have received organic fertilizer adulterated with glass, barbed wire and gravel posing a thereat not only to cultivation but their lives too farmers revealed. They claim that these substances found in the fertilizer sold by under a reputed brand CIC.
They point out that regardless of the increase or decrease in yield, if this fertilizer put into the paddy fields, it will not be able to get even to the paddy fields.
A leading farmer in the Paraduwa village in Akuressa had broken a packet of fertilizer he had bought and dumped it in a net and exposed the waste to the media.
“A 40 kg packet costs 1400 rupees. The pillow that was brought with the money cannot be broken. Half and five. Pottery and Ceramics Glass. After putting these in the dams, how can we go back to work next season? ”They charged.
