Mount Lavinia Magistrate Pasan Amarasena stated today (13) that his predecessor had informed him the CCTV system at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court was not functioning.
The Magistrate made this remark when the case involving the police constable, who was arrested following an incident between a lawyer and a police officer within the court premises—was taken up. During the hearing, police requested an order to obtain the CCTV footage of the incident for further investigation.
However, the Magistrate instructed that if the CCTV system is found to be in working condition, the relevant footage should be sent to the Government Analyst and a report be obtained.
