Minister Bimal Ratnayake said that the President has submitted a new nomination for the post of Auditor General, and the Constitutional Council, which met yesterday, decided to consider the proposal and deliver its decision on February 3, when Parliament reconvenes.
This is the fifth nomination sent by the President for the position of Auditor General. The Minister added that the Constitutional Council is carrying out further review regarding this nomination.
Minister Ratnayake, who serves as the President’s representative on the Constitutional Council, made these remarks while speaking to the media in Trincomalee yesterday (31).
“The Constitutional Council met yesterday to discuss the Auditor General’s post. The President has forwarded a fresh nomination. The members need a day or two to study it. Therefore, we will take a decision on the same day Parliament meets, on February 3,” he said.
