A brother of Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala has tragically died in a motorcycle accident that occurred today (March 15) at Mahagalkadawala on the Padeniya-Anuradhapura road.
Galgamuwa Police reported that the accident took place at around 6:30 a.m.
The deceased has been identified as Kurukulasuriya Mudiyanselage Piyasena Dissanayake (63), a brother of Minister Ananda Wijepala and a resident of Maha Illuppallama.
He was returning home alone on his motorcycle after attending a function at the house of his younger brother, who resides in Maha Galkadawala.
The collision occurred when his motorcycle struck a lorry that was parked at the Mahagalkadawala bend.
Officers from the Traffic Division of Galgamuwa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
