A 14-year-old student, Devum Senehas Ranasinghe, from Nanamal Vidyalaya, KadaWata, and Mawaramandiya, has won university admission.
After sitting for the GCE (OL) exam while studying in grade eight, the student showed such extraordinary talent and intelligence that he sat for the GCE (A/L) exam six months later, while he was studying in grade nine. Devum passed the A-level examination and obtained three good passes (B).
Accordingly, he has qualified to enter Sri Jayawardenepura University.
As a result, a farewell ceremony was held today at the college grounds.

He studied at the Gurukula Vidyalaya from grade one to grade five, and since then he has attended the Nanamal Vidyalaya.
The eldest of a family of three children, Devam’s parents are also teachers.
Devum, a resident of Kadawata and Imbulgoda, has won university admission this year to further his studies in the commerce section.
