Brandix Covid Cluster : Numbers On The Rise

The number of corona infections reported from the Minuwangoda Brandix corona cluster has risen to 1186. That was after 103 cases were reported in connection with the cluster yesterday. The 103 include two factory staff and 101 of their close contacts. 

Meanwhile, 14 people in the Katunayake Investment Zone have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. The Ministry of Health stated that the factory management is taking action with the local health officials regarding the situation.

Earlier, three factories in the Katunayake Investment Promotion Zone were temporarily closed due to corona infection in three employees of those factories.

Meanwhile, three minor employees of the Colombo National Hospital have contracted corona. The Ministry of Health stated that 2 wards and an operating theater have been closed due to this. The Ministry of Health stated that PCR examinations of employees will also be conducted.

The Ministry of Health says that about 26,000 PCR tests have been carried out to identify those infected with the corona cluster in Minuwangoda. The Chief Epidemiologist of the Epidemiology Unit, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, said that the PCR of the relevant factory workers has been completed now. Specialist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera also requested that the health sector be informed if there are any associates in the Minuwangoda Corona cluster who have not yet undergone PCR tests yet. 

The total number of corona infections reported from Sri Lanka yesterday was 105 including two returnees from abroad. Accordingly, the total number of corona infections in the country increased to 4628.1309 people are being treated at the hospital and 3306 have recovered.
