Health authorities are contemplating action against Medical professionals leaving the country and those, already left the country without following the procedural requirements.
The Ministry of Health is to inform the overseas missions representing the country to take prompt and necessary steps to see the errant medical professionals back in the country.
Presently over a hundred medical professionals are trying to find employment in other countries without following the due process.
They are still going, a spokesman for the Health Ministry said.
He pointed out that if the doctors migrate without formal
approval will be treated as having left the service under the Establishments Code.
Several doctors who had gone for further training in foreign countries had also refused to return to Sri Lanka. The number of doctors going abroad without adhering to the procedures set out by the Health Ministry has increased by the day. Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr G. Wijesuriya said.
However, the Deputy Director-General emphasized that the cases of the doctors who request permission to go abroad according to the proper methodology will not face procedural obstacles.
