The father of a young girl has lodged a complaint with the Vavuniya Nelukulam Police on yesterday (07) alleging that his daughter’s remains, buried at the Rasendrakulam Public Cemetery in Vavuniya, have been unlawfully removed by an unidentified group.

The unfortunate incident traces back to August 25, 2023, when Lingaraja Dibika, a one-year-and-eleven-month-old toddler, tragically lost her life after falling into a well in the Pampamaduwa area of Vavuniya. Subsequently, her final resting place was designated as the Rasendrakulam Public Cemetery in Vavuniya.

Yesterday (07) concerned villagers alerted the grieving father about suspicious activity near his daughter’s grave, reporting the presence of a hoe at the burial site and signs of recent digging.

The father promptly reported the situation to the Nelukulama police, who subsequently seized the hoe believed to have been used in the unauthorized excavation of the grave.
