Six persons were injured in a clash between political supporters of Rishard Bathiudeen and Cader Mastan in the Salambakulam area in Vavuniya on July 27. Four of them have been admitted to the Vavuniya General Hospital.
Rishard Bathiudeen had organized several political rallies in various parts of Vavuniya since noon after giving a statement to the Vavuniya Erattaperiyakulam police on the day over the Easter Sunday attacks. Bathiudeens supporters had allegedly tussled with Mastan’s supporters when they arrived in the Salambakulam area. Rishard Bathiudeen and Cader Mastan had then come face to face and had a confrontation according to sources. But the Poovarasankulama police have taken immediate action to resolve the clash.
Rishard Bathiudeen has expressed his support to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya while Mastan is contesting from the Pohottuwa camp. Vavuniya Poovarasankulama Police have commenced investigations into the clash between the two groups.
