Jayantha Ketagoda, who resigned as the National List Member of Parliament yesterday says that Sri lanka Podujana Peramuna will bring in Basil Rajapaksa as the next Presidential candidate.
In an interview on Hiru TV’s hard talk feature, he said that Basil Rajapaksa would be sworn in as the Minister of Finance after his name was gazetted and then as a Member of Parliament.
Mr. Ketagoda said that the current Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who holds the ministry post, may have agreed to give him the post of Minister of Finance and that they had discussed it because of the brothers.
He said that party members had put a lot of pressure on Basil Rajapaksa to become a Member of Parliament during the last 10 months and that it was very difficult for him to do so.
He further stated that he believes that some relief will be given to the people after the appointment of Basil Rajapaksa.
