Basil Rajapaksa Claims, “No Rajapaksa Will Run for Presidential Elections”

Basil Rajapaksa, upon his arrival in Sri Lanka today (05) from the United States, made statements regarding the upcoming presidential election, stating that he does not anticipate a Rajapaksa being nominated for candidacy.

Addressing the media at the airport, Rajapaksa mentioned that he would consult with members of the leading party and its leader in the coming days to decide whether to support the current president’s candidacy or nominate a candidate from within the party. He emphasized that without the backing of the Pohottuwa party, no candidate from the government’s side could stand for the presidential election.
