Veteran comedy actor Bandu Samarasinghe has not yet been officially appointed as the Consular General of Sri Lanka in Milan, Italy and only his name has been nominated for the post Minister of Foreign affairs Profesor G.L Peiris said.
A number of social media outlets including the Lankadeepa newspaper reported yesterday (14) that Bandu Samarasinghe has been appointed to the post of Diplomat in Milan, Italy.
The post of Consul General of Sri Lanka in Milan fell vacant following the death of musician Neela Wickramasinghe earlier this year.
Responding to the report, External Affairs Minister Prof. GL Peiris said: Peiris said that no decision has been taken yet to appoint veteran actor Bandu Samarasinghe as the Consular General of Sri Lanka in Milan.
