At the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Australian Governor-General Samantha Joy Mostyn arrived in Sri Lanka this afternoon (06) for an official visit.
Ms. Mostyn and her delegation were received at Bandaranaike International Airport by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.
During her visit, the Governor-General is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
The visit aims to further strengthen bilateral relations between Australia and Sri Lanka, with a focus on expanding cooperation in key sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Ms. Mostyn is also expected to travel within the country, including visits to Bandaragama, Mirissa, and Weligama, where she will inspect several ongoing projects supported by the Australian government.
This visit follows recent high-level engagements between the two nations, including the visit to Sri Lanka by Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles, and a meeting in Malaysia between Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.
