The National Audit Office has reported that the Lanka Petroleum Corporation incurred additional expenses amounting to 4.6 million US dollars or 1,669 million rupees (166.9 crores) due to the use of a price base related to Sri Lankan Super Diesel with a relatively higher average value in the purchase of petroleum under Indian short-term credit facilities.
The corporation had procured 599,722 barrels of Ceylon Auto Diesel on two occasions through Indian short-term credit facilities. The audit findings highlighted that the use of the price base associated with Ceylon Super Diesel, which has a higher average value, led to these additional costs for the Petroleum Corporation.
This information is part of the annual audit report issued by the National Audit Office for the year 2022.
