After taking into consideration an appeal submitted by Shantan’s mother to the Indian government, the Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai had also issued a foreign passport for Shantan to come to Sri Lanka from India.
The seven, including Nalini, Murugan and Shantan, who were sentenced to life in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, were released in November 2022.
