Kalutara South Police reported the arrest of an individual who had presented a counterfeit Rs 5000 note to the Kalutara Magistrate. The arrest was made yesterday (30) afternoon, and the suspect is a resident of the Kalutara Bombuwala area.
The arrest resulted from a complaint filed by the registrar of the Kalutara Magistrate’s Office, indicating that an officer serving as a cashier that day discovered the counterfeit note when attempting to deposit money in a Kalutara city bank.
The suspect is scheduled to be presented before the Kalutara Magistrate for further legal proceedings.
Acting Headquarters Police Inspector Shanta Nayanapriya has directed the ongoing investigation under the supervision of Crime Division Station Commander Police Inspector Dhammka De Silva.
