The authorities have decided to temporarily impose a travel restriction on the island of Analativu in Jaffna from the October 10 due to the smuggling of 800 kilos of dried turmeric from India.
Three people have been arrested for bringing dried turmeric and 39 people who had links with them on the island have been quarantined.
The three suspects were produced before the Kayts Magistrate and remanded in custody in a quarantine center for fourteen days.
