With both the ongoing Esala Perahera and the upcoming Asia Cup cricket tournament drawing crowds to the Central province, hotel rooms have become fully booked, prompting a surge in demand for accommodation facilities.
In response to this demand, the Sri Lanka Tourism Authority has issued an announcement encouraging homeowners to provide extra accommodation in their houses and earn additional income through a temporary registration scheme.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has introduced this scheme to facilitate the registration of homeowners willing to offer extra rooms in their residences for rent to cricket fans and other visitors.
Interested homeowners are required to provide contact information, the number of available rooms, the accommodation’s address, and the nightly charge for a room for registration. Once approved, homeowners will be able to list their accommodations on the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority’s official website.
The temporary registration scheme aims to provide additional lodging options for visitors and alleviate the accommodation shortage during busy events such as the Esala Perahera and the Asia Cup cricket tournament.
For more information and details about the registration process, interested homeowners can call 1912 or visit the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority’s official website at www.sltda.gov.lk.
