The Minister of Health and the top positions of the Health Ministry including the ministry secretary will be changed from the first week of next month political sources said.
According to these sources, opposition parliamentarians will cross over to the government and support the president. Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Rajitha Senaratne is also among the members of Parliament who are to be crossed over and sources said he will be sworn in as the new Health Minister. Senaratne will be sworn in on the first week of next month.
Also, the report states that many high positions in the Ministry of Health, Director General, Medical Supply Unit, Drug Regulatory Authority, Medical Research Institute, State Pharmaceutical Corporation, and Drug Regulatory Authority will change.
Sources said MP Rajitha Senarathna is leading the parliamentarian group who intends to break away from the opposition and they have been holding several discussions regarding the matter. Political sources speculate that the Sri Lanka Creditors Council is supposed to deliver a special statement regarding Sri Lanka’s economy and soon after that the MPs will cross over to the government. In line with these sources further said that Ranil Wickeresinghe’s presidential election campaign also will be started.
