Mirihana Police have arrested a computer engineer in connection with the death of a young garment worker, whose body was found lying in a thicket in the DC-4 section of Sogamwatte Pussellawa.

Police suspect that it could have been a murder caused by strangulation with something like a rope.

The victim was a 25-year-old young woman named Sadasivam Niranjala, a resident of Pabegama Jana Udana village, Elboda Katupitiya.

The police subsequently arrested her husband, a computer engineer, on suspicion of the murder while in a house at Wijerama Rubber Estate First Lane.

Police say that the arrested man had married this woman a year ago, and both lived in a rented house in the Kalubowila area.

It has been revealed during the police investigation that this wife and husband had come together from Colombo to Pussellawa, and in Pussellawa, the husband had kicked up a row with his wife, saying that he wanted a divorce.

Police are conducting further investigations.
