The Jaffna International Film Festival commenced yesterday (14) at the Jaffna Cultural Center, marking its 9th edition. The festival, held at the Three Cinema Halls, showcases a diverse selection of films from various genres.
This year’s Jaffna International Film Festival features an impressive lineup of 29 films, spanning various themes and genres and they will be shown at three major cinemas in Jaffna till the 19th. Organizers emphasize the festival’s commitment to showcasing films that reflect cultural diversity and societal issues.
The festival’s opening ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mizukoshi Hidiki, Switzerland Ambassador to Sri Lanka Siri Walt, Commissioner of South Africa Satle Schalk, Assistant Indian Ambassador Rakesh Nataraj Jayabaskaran, Professor at University of Jaffna Sirisakunaraja and Festival Director Anoma Rajakaruna.
