2 Missing Sri Lankans Among Hamas Hostages; One Woman Reported to be Dead

One Woman Reported to be Dead!

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, has expressed concern over the fate of two Sri Lankan nationals who went missing during the Hamas attack on Israel. He suggests that these individuals may be among the 150 hostages reportedly taken by Hamas fighters.

He reveals that a group of civilians from 36 foreign countries, including Sri Lankans, is currently in the custody of Hamas.

The ambassador has formally requested details on all those who have been detained by Hamas, which could potentially provide specific information about the missing Sri Lankans.

Unfortunately, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel announced this afternoon (17) that the missing Sri Lankan woman Anula Jayathilaka, who was believed to be alive in the custody of Hamas, has been killed by Hamas fighters.

The Israeli authorities officially confirmed the death, Derana reported citing the embassy.

According to reports, her body is to be handed over to the Sri Lankan Embassy by the Israeli authorities within two days.

However, according to a video posted on the 7 NEWS website last week, the family strongly believed that Anula Jayatilaka was alive and forwarded it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Employment Bureau, and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel.

There, family members said that she was a vague moving image of a woman wearing a dress similar to a blouse she had received as a gift after she arrived in Sri Lanka last year, with her hair braided like a single spike.
