The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) and the British Institute of Management and Technology (BIMT Campus) are excited to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that aims to elevate corporate leadership across the nation. This collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to empowering corporate leaders through the newly launched Management Skills Development Program, designed to cultivate the skills necessary to drive sustainable economic growth. The program, accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) UK, provides participants with internationally recognized qualifications and offers pathways to becoming a prestigious Chartered Manager, a distinguished title that signifies the highest level of professional achievement in management. An Insight Report reveals that 52% of companies listed in the Fortune 500 in 2000 had disappeared by 2020, largely due to a lack of skilled leadership capable of navigating complex challenges and making decisive actions.

“This MOU is a crucial milestone in our efforts to empower corporate leaders,” said Mr. Anura Warnakulasooriya, President of the National Chamber of Commerce. “Through the Management Skills Development Program, we are investing not only in individual career growth but also in the long-term economic prosperity of our nation by enhancing leadership capabilities.” BIMT Campus expressed this sentiment, emphasizing their excitement for the partnership. ‘We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration brings. By combining our expertise and resources with the NCCSL, we are confident that we can nurture impactful leaders who will contribute significantly to the nation’s sustainable development,’ said Mr. Farshath Jamal, CEO of BIMT Campus. It is a collaborative endeavor to encourage employees, entrepreneurs, and aspiring corporate leaders to take part in the Management Skills Development Program and equip themselves with the tools needed to excel in today’s rapidly evolving business environment also to ensure a stronger and more resilient economy for the future.
