Production at Sri Lanka’s largest cement factory to begin in June

Lanwa sansatha Cement (Pvt) Ltd. is scheduled to commence production at its factory in June 2021.The state-of-the-art plant is expected to become one of the largest cement factories in the region.

This factory is located in an area of ​​63 acres in the Mirijjawila Export Processing Zone, Hambantota.The first phase of the project, which is registered with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, will have an investment of US $ 70 million and its production capacity is estimated at around 2.4 million metric tons per annum.

In the second phase, the production capacity will be increased by another 1.2 million metric tons with an investment of another US $ 10 million. One of the unique features of this factory is the use of cutting-edge technology.

All mixing work here will be by Debr Pfeiffer machines. Many other machines used in the manufacturing process are machine-made and specially designed by Siemens, a world-renowned innovator. Sophisticated FLSmidh technology is used in packaging to increase efficiency and reduce wastage.

This is the first time that all these technologies have been introduced in Sri Lanka and only a limited number of factories in the region have these facilities.

Once production begins, the Cement Factory is expected to be able to supply cement for all major construction projects, including the Port City of Colombo and expressways.
