The Chief Magistrate’s Court of Colombo has directed the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) to block access to all websites and social media platforms that contain unlawfully obtained information related to Cargills Bank PLC.

This order comes after Cargills Bank PLC filed a case (No. 43022/1/25) on Friday, April 4, 2025, under Section 24 of the Online Safety Act No. 9 of 2024.

The TRCSL and all internet service providers in Sri Lanka were named as respondents in the case.

The court considered the submissions and, through a conditional order issued on April 4, 2025, granted three requests made by Cargills Bank PLC.
