Parliamentarian turned Business tycoon Dhammika Perera sworn in as the Minister of Technology and Investment Promotion before the President this evening.
He was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on the 22nd following the resignation of former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa .
President Rajapaksa declared the new ministry recently with few key institutions related to the economy such as The Board of Investment, Port city Commission , Lotus Tower. Sri Lanka Nano Technology Institution under the portfolio of Ministry of Technology and Investment Promotion.
A group led by the Center for Policy Alternatives filed a petition in court seeking to prevent him from being sworn in as a Member of Parliament, but the court rejected it.
Pohottu had opposed his swearing in as a Member of Parliament.
