Former President and Chairman of the SLFP Maithripala Sirisena had written to the Prime Minister extending their support to the government under Ranil Wickremesinghe for decisions taken in favour of the people and to resolve public issues.

Meanwhile, several SLFP members have decided to support the government, irrespective of the earlier decision to steer clear of governmental affairs.

Nimalsirpala de Silva, Jagath Pushpakumara, Duminda Dissanayake, Mahinda Amaraweera and Lasantha Alagiyawanna have expressed their willingness to accept ministerial portfolios.

Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath had already announced that he would support the government of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
